This great little pizza joint opened about a year ago and I'm ashamed to say I haven't tried it until now, but boy am I glad I did. Napoli Wood Fired Pizza and Bakery offers what the name would suggest - pizza and baked goods cooked by wood-fired stove. But the apathy that belies its name kept me away too long - the truth is, the product is out-of-this-world good. I mean, so good I cant remember the last time I had pizza this good, and I work in NYC.

The Grub:

Napoli offers a pretty long list of classic wood fired, thin crust pizzas - some with toppings you are undoubtedly used to, and a few that may be a bit more unique and tantalizing. Margarita, pepperoni-sausage and peppers, ground-beef jalapeno, 4 chilies,  and 4 mushroom are just a few of the insanely good choices. I will have to admit though, I'm a sucker for just a plain pepperoni pizza and theirs is so good, I want another one as I write this. All the pizzas are thin crust, charred to a perfect crisp inside their dome-shaped, wood-fired oven and many feature their own home made mozzarella cheese, or vegan cheese if you are dairy allergic/intolerant or cruelty free! The other highlight which sets Napoli aside, other than their crust, is the sauce they use. Honestly, this is the step most pizza places get wrong, and the Napoli sauce is the perfect in my mind. Anyway, since pizza is very subjective, I highly suggest you head down there as soon as possible and put my claims to the test!

The Digs:

Napoli operates out of storefront on Anderson Ave. in Cliffside park. The inside is not too big, and definitely not too small, just the right size for a pizza joint, with a bright, lively interior that's always very clean. Plenty of seating, but larger parties may have a little trouble, I would call ahead just in case. Staff is extremely kind and very helpful and great for a conversation. They also deliver within a 2 mile radius of the shop, so if you're lucky you can get this slammin' grub to your door!

Hands down one of the best pizzas I've had in NJ so far.

The Corner and It’s Delights - Bergenfield, NJ (Now Closed)

  I popped into the The Corner on a hot, muggy August day seeking cold refreshment and the  delicious juice I was handed absolutely delivered. They serve a bevy of beverages with flavors including mango, passionfruit, guava, strawberry, Lulo and blackberry.  I tried both the Lulo (tropical and sweet/sour) and strawberry. Both were fresh and and quickly helped me beat the heat that summer day. The Corner and it's Delights also offers an array of Columbian and American food options like empanadas, burgers, and salads - so stop in and try it out if you're in the neighborhood! Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - NYC (Various Locations)

Hell's Kitchen has no shortage of places to find a quick lunch, the trick is finding one with good food that breaks the typical mold of catering to the hot-table zombies. Luckily, Sophie's Cuban is here to break the monotony of the everyday routine with time-tested, delicious Cuban classics. The Grub: Sophie's is a great grab-and-go eatery obviously specializing in Cuban cuisine. Their offerings include some of the well-known classics like roast pork, fried chicken cutlets, baked chicken, and pork-chops with onions which are also their most popular dishes. I would also suggest giving their spicy grilled chicken and shredded beef stew a try, though quite honestly - you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. When you order, you are asked to pick an entree and 3 sides - which, in and of themselves could make a meal for most.
